There are many ways to contribute to a more equitable, sustainable, and resilient food system in London-Middlesex and beyond. Whether you’re interested in food policy, community engagement, or strengthening our regional food system, there are opportunities to share your knowledge, connect with others, and make a difference.
Ways to Get Involved
1. Join MLFPC as a Council Member
Help advance food system change in London-Middlesex as a member of the Middlesex-London Food Policy Council. Council members bring diverse perspectives and expertise to our work, collaborating on policy recommendations, advocacy, education, and community engagement.
What’s involved?
- A two-year term, with the possibility of one renewal.
- Monthly Council meetings.
- Active participation in Council activities, including staying up to date, responding to communications, and contributing to the Council’s work.
- Participation in at least one additional MLFPC committee or working group each year.

2. Join a Working Group or Committee
Contribute your skills, knowledge, and ideas to a specific area of MLFPC’s work. Our committees and working groups bring people together to advance projects and initiatives, from communications and advocacy to community engagement and food system recognition.
These opportunities are open to people who are not Council members, and some may involve a shorter-term commitment of approximately 3–6 months.

3. Join the Regional Food Systems Alliance
Help strengthen our regional food system by connecting with organizations, institutions, businesses, and individuals working toward a shared vision for a thriving local food economy.
The Alliance welcomes participation from across the broader region, including neighbouring communities beyond London and Middlesex County.
At present the following groups are active:
- Local Food Economy Advisory Group
- Agriculture Advisory Group
- Backbone Group
