Multiphase Assessment of Community Food Security
in Middlesex London from 2021 - 2023
In response to the call from the London Community Recovery Network (LCRN) to increase focus on food insecurity, the MLFPC began a multiphase assessment and analysis of community food security. This assessment was broken down into four distinct phases.

Phase One: Community Food Assessment
Phase One constitutes the Council’s ongoing analysis of community food security in Middlesex London by gathering information through an environmental scan, stakeholder interviews and conversations with the community.

Phase Two: Know Your Food Event
The 2022 CFA was followed by a community event titled “Know Your Food: Grow, Eat, Understand”. This event was held to connect various stakeholders and generate community conversations and increase knowledge about the local food system.

Phase Three: Environmental Scan of Municipal Food System Policies and Practices
For Phase 3, the Ivey Centre for Building Sustainable Value completed an environmental scan and report on current food policy initiatives of peer municipalities.

Phase Four: Potential for Regional Collaboration
Phase 4 comprises a report to the LCRN committee and the MLFPC on the potential for regional collaboration to address long-term food security by exploring the potential for a structured collaboration to strengthen regional long-term food security.
